Reflecting on the 2018 Fifth Elephant Logistics in Mobility conference

The First edition focused on covering fleet management and shared mobility

Our partnership with Fifth Elephant goes back a long time, and when we heard about them hosting the first-ever logistics conference in Bangalore, it was but obvious for us to be associated with this platform. Swiggy came on board as a Bronze sponsor for the conference that took place on the 24th of November 2018.

Not only was this an opportunity for us to connect with some of the great minds from the logistics community in the city, but it also offered great learning to hear from some of the major industry players in this space. The conference saw speakers from the likes of Flipkart, Walmart, Go-Jek, etc. presenting on various topics such as Machine Learning, NLP, Visualizations, Geocoding, and much more.

Representing Swiggy at the conference, I presented our work on “Predicting Order Batchability” with the following outline:

  • Importance of Batching
  • The initial impact of batching on the business metrics
  • How it can impact business overall
  • How we solved the issues with predictions
  • Second Order Batching Prediction
  • First Order Batching Prediction
  • Impact on Business with predictions

We also had a pop-quiz running at the Swiggy kiosk and it saw a good participation. This also was an opportunity for Team Swiggy to interact with the 120+ attendees of this conference. Winners of the quiz received a subscription to our membership program — Swiggy SUPER along with gift vouchers.

All-in-all, it was great experience for the entire team at Swiggy to be a part of first-ever Logistics conference by the Fifth Elephant. Stay tuned for more updates on Swiggy at upcoming conferences.
