4. The Maharashtrian Thali

Items in this thali: Pickles, chicken and mutton fry. A mix of rice and rotis, served with a variety of bhajis or curries like batatyachi bhaji, vaangyache bharit and aamti, matkichi bhaji. 6. The Bengali Thali

Items in this thali: Bengali rice pudding known as ‘payesh’, five types of vegetable fries – Aloo bhaja, Potol bhaja, Kumro bhaja, Begun bhaja, and Uuche bhaja, aromatic chutney and torkari daal. For dessert, rosogolla, mishti doi, Bengali rabri, gujiya and sondesh.

7. Assamese Thali

Items in the thali: A special type of rice, masor tenga and khar, a vegetable preparation made using dried banana skin and a meat dish, usually either a chicken curry or duck curry with ash-gourd, kharoli, aloo pitika, and traditional sweet drink known as payox or kheer.
