The first bunch of hoodies and unmatched socks are out. It’s official, the chill has set.
Possibly the only thing that can make Delhi Winters any better is the country’s happiest music festival – the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. While tickets are still up for grabs, everything else is just about set in stone. Everyone from Rahman to Ankur and The Ghalat Family have their vocals warmed up and guitars tuned, and the rest of the NCR is prepping itself for one hell of a weekender. So we’ve broken it down for you. Like the festival’s the music line-up which lets your friends know which stage you’re most likely to be found at, we’ve got a handful of destinations where you can feed yourself to the gills.
Let’s start with The Greats.
You don’t go to Delhi without paying homage to The Big Chill, one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. Stop by at the Khan Market outlet to dig into some excellent Italian food (viva la Arrabiata, we say) and follow it up with the best cheesecake in the city!
In case you’re craving something closer to home, Rajinder Da Dhaba at Safdarjung is the answer to your foodie prayers. Butter chicken, kebabs, or anything non-vegetarian – you will discover true North Indian food flavours here.
While the non-veggies gorge away, veggie souls can head on over to Ambience Mall in Gurgaon for some superb burgers and shakes/coolers at Johnny Rockets / Café Delhi Heights, respectively. For some South Indian satiation, the place to be is Sarvana Bhawan at CP.
Your tummy may be full by now, but your liver is all kinds of empty. Listen up, over-21 seasoned attenders, here are the hand-picked Pre-Gaming Pit Stops we have for you.
Connaught Place and Sector 29 have an abundance of options you and your beer-loving buddies can chill at; but the best are Vapour Bar Exchange, Monkey Bar & My Bar (unbelievably reasonable booze) at CP, or Downtown and Adda by Striker (best Chilli Potatoes ever!) at the latter. Imperfecto at Hauz Khas is also a popular choice for all kinds of food.
The ebullience of Weekender continues even after the day is over, and going straight home to crash just won’t cut it. The Capital has some ace options when it comes to the After-Party.
Hauz Khas Village peeps can head to Social Offline and/or Raas, or bounce over to Lord of The Drinks at Connaught Place. The dinner spread at Sutra in Cyberhub is famous citywide, and there’s also Soi 7 in the same area.
It doesn’t matter how different your music tastes are, the one thing everyone has in common is they’re looking for a Hangover Cure.
Elma’s at Lodhi Colony and Di Ghent at DLF Phase 4 have some spectacular breakfasts – ideal detox solutions. There’s also a selection buffet at All American Diner (Lodhi Road) and some outstanding biryani, prawn curry, and fried mutton at Andhra Bhawan (CP).
The spirit of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender begins the moment you shake off your inhibitions and immerse yourself into three days of good company, great music and fantastic food.
