One of the most famous restaurants out of the numerous ones located in the Pandara Road market, Gulatis is famous for its Mughlai and Indian cuisines. Some of the must try dishes at Gulati include butter chicken, paneer lababdar and galauti kebab. The butter chicken at Gulati has already attained a legendary status and is a must order dish if you are a non-vegetarian. The galauti kebab too is very soft and melts in your mouth the instant you take the first bite. Paneer lababdar comes highly recommended for veggie lovers, it’s made from fresh cottage cheese and is sure to delight your taste buds.
2. Biryani Blues, Connaught Place:
Once upon a time, Biryani was just famous in Andhra Pradesh (more specifically in Hyderabad). But now, one can find great tasting biryanis in many parts of India. Biryani Blues in Delhi is home to one of them. You can get authentic biryanis here along with a myriad of other dishes, the must-tries include Chicken 65 Biryani, Mutton Biryani, and Andhra mutton fry. There are many more Hyderabadi biryanis on the menu, but these two—Chicken 65 biryani and Keema biryani—are the best sellers. 3. Kainoosh, Vasant Kunj:
One of the finest restaurants in Delhi, Kainoosh is located in the DLF Promenade mall in Vasant Kunj and is famous for its Sighri ka Boti Kebab, Yam-Zucchini Kebab and Murgh Mangal Ram. Sighri ka Boti Kebab from the starters menu is prepared from lamb shoulder, is cooked to till the meat is tender. The resulting texture allows to it just melts in your mouth without much ado. For the vegetarians, Yam and Zucchini Kebab is another must try dish. The dish is not commonly available in all restaurants and that makes it more special. Moving to the main course, the tender Murgh Mangal Ram are a hot favorite and should not be missed at any cost.
4. Mai Thai, Dwarka:
A simple yet cozy restaurant, Mai Thai is a great place to have some authentic pan Asian food. What makes it even more desirable is that it won’t burn a hole through your pocket. The must tries at Mai Thai include Teriyaki Chicken and Schezwan prawns. Their in-house Pad Thai noodles are highly recommended as they come in a few varieties. The Pad Thai noodles have a plethora of ingredients like rice noodles, fish sauce, stir-fried eggs, tamarind paste, fresh bean sprouts etc. You can select from the vegetarian, chicken or prawns Pad Thai noodles at Mai Thai. Their in house Teriyaki chicken oozes with flavour combined from soy sauce and rice wine, which results in tingling the taste buds in just the right amount! The Schezwan prawns are also a delicacy.

Sethi’s is an open air dhaba. Some of the must tries at Sethi’s include Kali Mirch Chicken, Special Beli Ram Chicken and Dal Makhani. From the non-veg main menu, Special Beli Ram Chicken is a hot seller and a legendary dish. For the vegetarians, the Dal Makhani is simply awesome. The lovely flavors of black lentils cooked overnight on low flame scintillate your taste buds. In fact, it is so awesome that you can just finish your dinner with Dal Makhani and your choice of breads without the need of any side dish!
6. Wok in the Clouds, Rajouri Garden:
Over the past few years, Rajouri Garden area in West Delhi has come up as a major food joint on Delhi’s food circuit. This place offers a fine dining experience with some authentic Chinese food to try (it also has full-fledged Indian/Mughlai menu). Some of the must tries here include their soups, especially the Manchow and Tom Yum soups, Jumbo Prawns, Crispy Chili Potatoes and Chicken Mandarin. Also try their jumbo prawns, a dish sufficient for around 4 people-“jumbo” actually means jumbo here!
7. Sagar Ratna, Defence Colony:

For an authentic taste of South Indian food, Sagar Ratna is a favorite for many Delhi foodies. The restaurant is a chain of many outlets across various locations in Delhi. The dishes that you should definitely try here are Veg Uttapam, Mysore Masala Dosa, and the Family Dosa. The veg uttapam is loaded with veggies like capsicum, onion, tomatoes and carrots. The Mysore Masala Dosa is also very nice and gets its flavour from chili and garlic marinade along with the potato masala.
8. The Good Food Café, Pitampura:
This is an open air affair that serves some amazing Continental, Italian and fast food to its customers. The must tries here include the Premium Chocolate Sundae, the variety of fresh salads and the Karahi Chicken pizza. The Chocolate Sundae is just perfect to start your day (or can be had even at the middle or end of the day!). The fresh salads too are a treat. You have an option to choose from a variety of veggies or varieties of chicken and decide the dressings to make your salad—that too at a reasonable price. If you feel like having a pizza, we would recommend a fusion of Indian and Italian in the form of Karahi Chicken pizza.
9. Faarsi, Hauz Khas Village:
Tired of Mughlai, North Indian and South Indian food? Looking to try some authentic Persian, Lebanese or Turkish delights? Faarsi is the place to be. Another joint amongst many others in Hauz Khas Village, Faarsi has carved a name for itself amongst its patrons. The dishes to look out for here include the Lamb Koobideh wrap, Chicken Jujeh Kebab and mezze platter-veg. The lamb in the Lamb Koobideh wrap is very juice and tender and every bite of the wrap would seem heavenly. The jujeh kebab contains chunks of chicken grilled to perfection and marinated with lemon juice and saffron. The vegetarian must try includes the mezze platter, which is a typical Persian assortment of a selection of choicest of small dishes. If you enjoy vegetarian dishes, this one should be on your list.
10. Sbarro, Connaught Place:
Another budget-friendly joint located centrally in Connaught Place (and in many other locations across Delhi), Sbarro is famous for its salads and Italian dishes. The dishes to try here at Sbarro include their delectable Penne Chicken Alfredo pasta, the Meat Feast pizza and the New York Cheesecake. The Chicken Alfredo contains generous amount of grilled chicken pieces tossed with pasta in white sauce and served with garlic bread. If ordering a pizza, go for Sbarro’s Meat Feast pizza, which will have a topping of chicken sausages, chicken pepperoni and grilled chicken—all in one. Simply unmissable. To finish the feast, dig into their New York cheesecake.
