It is prepared by mixing eggs, cheese and black pepper with hot pasta. Next, chefs add fried pork. Your capocuoco (that’s chef in Italian) then tosses the mixture till it becomes a creamy sauce.

The ‘carbon’ in ‘carbonara’ comes from the fact that pasta carbonara was popular among Roman miners.

Did you know? Earlier, the cheeks of pigs (guanciale) were used to make carbonara. Since that’s a little harder to find, chefs use bacon instead. And we can’t complain, because #baconequalsecstasy.
