August 17, 2021

? Tested in public interest!

We’re on a mission to verify the drool-factor of viral recipes! Also, truth be told, we were tired of wondering if those 60-second cooking hacks were worth the hype. ?

World, meet Viral Recipes On Trial! For this month’s edition, here’s who we’re taking to court the kitchen.

The 4 Part Tortilla Wrap

Ingredients:

  • 1 tortilla pack (Go ahead and use chapati if you have leftovers)
  • ½ cup freshly cut veggies
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 small mashed potato
  • Any tangy spicy sauces

Prep time: 30 mins

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Preparation:

  1. Place the base

Place a tortilla on a cutting board. Admire its shape – probably the closest we can get to a round roti. Then cut straight to the centre from any one point on the edge.

  1. Some math work

Mentally divide the tortilla into 4 quarters and choose which side to start on. (We won’t judge if you check today’s horoscope for this.)

  1. Divide and rule

Fill up each quadrant with only one ingredient. Then sprinkle some salt and pepper.

  1. Get your hands dirty

Take a deep breath, this part can be tricky – gently pick up the quadrant on the left of the cut and fold it onto the next one. Keep repeating till you get a triangle shape.

  1. Get ready for some grilling

Brush some butter on the top of your wrap and then place it inside a grill toaster. Flip when the bottom turns golden brown and repeat. (Pro tip: Don’t flip too high, that can lead to a wrap death ?)

  1. Serve hot!

Especially to guests who doubt your kitchen skills.

Rating: 4/5

So, was it gooooood?

It does taste heavenly, but beware that the added pepper can make your ears blow off steam like a train. It’s quite soft on the inside but crisp on the outside, till you avoid going overboard with the sauces – it’s not a sub guys!

Skill set required:

Realistic cooking time is actually 20 minutes ‘cause that folding and flippin’ ain’t easy. Unless you’ve had some roti training from nani, may the food gods help you.

We recommend making it when…

You’re cooking for 2 – 3 people, because cooking each wrap can take a lot of time, so it’s not big-group friendly. One wrap is heavy enough for one person, so it makes for a fun dinner-for-one, too!

A word of warning!

Cooking this will almost always leave your grill with spots of fried cheese, so clean that up before mom walks in.
