From 67 orders in a single day to delivery in 65 seconds, consumers lapped up convenience in 2023

It’s been only three years since the inception of quick commerce in India. Only three. This fact blows our minds when we see that consumers have spent 2023 ordering everything from kanda, batata, and condoms to silver coins and air purifiers on Swiggy instamart. Bringing you India’s top quick commerce trends of the year. We’ll try to make this faster than Swiggy instamart’s 10-minute deliveries.

Insta-pur: If you put all those who ordered from Swiggy instamart’s top five cities in a country, it would be the 17th most populated in the world. Here are some standout users –

  • First up, the gentleman from Jaipur who placed 67 orders on Swiggy instamart in a single day.  We’re not sure how big his party was but would’ve loved an invite!
  • Shop more, save more: Giving him competition was a Delhiwala who saved ₹ 1,70,102 on his yearly grocery bill of ₹ 12,87,920 by fulfilling all his shopping needs on Swiggy instamart.
  • Proving Delhi knows how to indulge, a single order from the city consisted of 99 items – the majority being chips, chocolates, and cookies.
  • The single highest order was worth ₹ 31,748. This user from Chennai stocked up on coffee, juice, cookies, nachos, and chips.
  • Self-care and grooming became convenient for users who discovered nail polish removers, shavers, and nail clippers on Swiggy instamart.
  • Swiggy instamart witnessed a 3233% increase in the searches for air purifiers on its platform in November and stocked up to ₹ 30,00,000 worth of air purifiers in Delhi- NCR and Mumbai.

Aloo lelo, Kanda lelo…

  • Onions, tomatoes, and coriander leaves – retained their positions as the most ‘seasoned’ trio of all orders!
  • The biggest mango lovers reside in Bangalore. The city ordered more mangoes than Mumbai and Hyderabad put together. 
  • Speaking of love, move over to February, September was the month of romance this year, with the maximum number of condom orders. What did users order the most alongside condoms- Onions, followed by bananas and chips!
  • Speaking about snacks, Makhana stole the snack spotlight, with a staggering 1.3 million orders, proving that when it comes to satisfying their cravings, users are considering healthy options too. 
  • We’re all looking for a little.. milk. Milk, followed by curd and onions was the most searched item on Swiggy instamart. Lucky for the 30 million users who found it, unlike those who came looking for “Captain America” or “anything”.

In a celestial parallel, our dedicated delivery partners have covered an astronomical 29,95,13,538 kilometers this year, approximately 1198 times the distance covered by Chandrayaan-3 en route to its mission to the moon.

But the fastest delivery of the year? was in Delhi, where Swiggy instamart delivered a packet of instant noodles in 65 seconds. That’s about half the time it takes to make that noodles.
