Saurab Anand, Senior Area Sales Manager for Swiggy Food Marketplace, joined in 2018 with an uncertain path, but a clear goal to build an impactful career.
Saurab Anand began his journey as a Sales Manager at Swiggy alongside a team of driven professionals. He was eager to learn but was unsure of where he fit into the puzzle. By shadowing his seniors, learning on the job, and solving problems, he steadily carved his path. Seven years later, his curiosity and grit have led him to become a Senior Area Sales Manager for Swiggy Food Marketplace. This is Saurab’s journey of encountering countless challenges and opportunities.

What is one thing you love about your job at Swiggy?
As a Senior Area Sales Manager working at Swiggy, a lot of my work is about building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, vendors and internal teams. My people-centric role gives me the opportunity and freedom to experiment at a fast pace while displaying ownership. In my line of work, every day feels like a new avenue to explore, to build something better than yesterday, and that keeps pushing me to aim higher. That is exactly what I love about my job.
How did your Swiggy journey begin? What was your role when you joined the company, and how has your role progressed over time?
In these seven years, my role evolved from a Sales Manager to a Senior Area Sales Manager, and with it came new challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities to make a real impact. What started as an unclear path soon became a space where I could grow, experiment and contribute meaningfully.
What was your perception of Swiggy at the time of your interview, and how was the interview experience?
My first impression of Swiggy was a company that is hungry to build, innovate and help people in their day-to-day lives like no other. Throughout my interview, I was stunned by the sheer passion with which Swiggsters worked. I walked out of the interview with a clear thought: this is a transparent and energising workplace. Swiggy valued sharp thinking, humility, and empathy as the driving forces of every decision. It was a company that was hungry to solve real problems, and that hasn’t changed even now.

In your seven years at Swiggy, what would you say has been your best moment?
In 2020, when COVID-19 was at its peak, Swiggy launched Swiggy Grocery in Punjab, when food delivery was completely shut down. That moment truly changed my perspective on Swiggy and was one of the best in my tenure here. The launch was one of those instances where teamwork, ownership, and innovation came together. That instant truly showed that Swiggy cares even under immense pressure. I realised that this was exactly what made me proud to be a part of Swiggy.
What is the biggest learning from your manager/team/working at Swiggy in general? And who would you like to thank for making the last seven years great?
In the last seven years, one of my biggest learning has been the power of taking ownership. At Swiggy, you’re encouraged to think like an owner and Display Founder Mentality, which is one of Swiggy’s values. You are expected to challenge the status quo, solve problems deeply, and execute with clarity. This learning has shaped my mindset both at work and beyond.
I would also like to thank Raghav Mahajan, Sachit Arora, and Vipul Kapoor, who have been my mentors, sounding board, and constant source of support. Their guidance shaped my career and the way I approach challenges and pursue growth.

Sum up working at Swiggy in one word and tell us why.
Transformative.
Swiggy, as a workplace, has always presented me with new opportunities, new people, and new challenges, both personally and professionally. It has constantly pushed me beyond my comfort zone, helping me grow faster than I ever imagined.
What is one Swiggy value you resonate with the most and why?
I resonate most with Swiggy’s Consumer Comes First value. Everything we do ladders up to improving someone’s experience, and that clarity of purpose makes decision-making simpler and more meaningful.
