Himanshu Choudhary joined Swiggy in 2023 as an Engineering Intern, guided by curiosity. Today, he’s grown into a Software Engineer, thriving in a culture of continuous learning
Himanshu joined Swiggy as an intern, curiosity was his guiding compass. What he didn’t expect was how deeply Swiggy’s values would shape his journey. Transparency was evident in every interaction, from fast and open feedback during interviews to mentors who trusted him from day one. Swiggy’s value of “Do More with Less” came to life when he built the Offer Widget for Instamart’s homepage – a feature that went live to millions, developed with speed, focus, and precision.
Today, Himanshu has grown from an Engineering Intern to a Software Engineer, thriving in an environment where learning never stops. At Swiggy, curiosity starts a journey and passion keeps it going.

My Swiggy journey kicked off in October 2023 as an Engineering intern. I still remember hinking, ‘Will what I do here really matter?’ Turns out, I didn’t have to wait long to find out. Right from day one, I was diving into real projects, solving real problems, and working with teams who trusted me to deliver.
The learning curve was steep. Every project required thinking on my feet, finding solutions quickly, and adapting to fast-paced environments. I learned skills no textbook could teach – problem-solving under pressure, working with cross-functional teams, and turning obstacles into opportunities. In 3 months, I was offered a full-time position, and I was elated.

I’m really proud of the feature I built for Swiggy Instamart’s homepage. It’s the Offer Widget that shows price drops of items on Instamart. The widget was built on the insight that users usually think they are getting a costlier deal, and this helped counter that idea.
As I moved on to more complex projects, I learned how to build impactful solutions at scale while mastering best practices like pull requests, feature development, and monitoring. Those experiences shaped me into a stronger, more confident professional.

My advice for people looking to convert their internship to full-time employment would be to be as hands-on as possible. It means jumping into projects even when you have little experience or understanding and sourcing knowledge through your team members along the way, because no one will judge you for not knowing something.
Always be curious, and keep learning. Ask the ‘why’ behind everything, and treat every challenge as a puzzle to crack. That’s how I went from wondering if my work would matter to actually making an impact and enjoying every bit of it.
